April 9 - Over 100,000 citizens of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) gathered in Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang today to celebrate the successful launch of the Kwangmyongsong-2 experimental communications satellite.
In attendance at the rally were senior representatives and offices from the Korean Workers' Party, Korean People's Army and the DPRK state. Factory, technology and agricultural workers and others from all walks of life were gathered for the celebration of the country's national success.
Choe Thae Bok, candidate member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Korean Workers' Party, presented his report on the recent launch and what it meant for the DPRK.
The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted the report, which hailed the successful launch as a demonstration of the "dignity and invincible might of Songun Korea, and a historic event which heralded the victory in the cause of building a great, prosperous and powerful nation."
