April 7 -- Today Syria celebrates the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the al-Baath Arab Socialist Party. The Party, which has enjoyed the popular support and confidence of the Syrian people for several decades now, strives to build a free Arab nation with a distinct role in the modern world.
Since its foundation, the Party has sought to work towards meeting the needs of the people and been a significant rallying call for pan-Arab unity.
Throughout its history, the Baath Party has worked to overcome numerous conspiracies and challenges threatening the national independence of the Arab peoples, particularly at the hands of the Zionist-Israeli aggressors and its chief arms supplier, the United States.
The al-Baath Arab Socialist Party routinely commits itself to the solidarity of the struggle for the national liberation of the people of Palestine against the Zionist-Israeli occupation. Under the leadership of President Assad, the Party has experienced a new dimension of development that has solidified its place in the hearts and minds of the people.
